Bread
Gulab Jamun is very easy to make and quick alternative to regular gulab jamuns.
One can also use leftover bread for this.
Ingredients:
White bread slices - 4
Milk powder - 1&1/2 tsp (optional)
Milk - ½ cup
Oil - for deep frying
For sugar syrup:
Sugar - ½ cup
Water - ¾ cup
Rose water - ½ tsp
Method:
1. Trim the edges of all the bread slices & set this aside.
2. Meanwhile, take sugar & water in a vessel & heat it until sugar dissolves completely. When the sugar syrup starts turning sticky switch off the flame. When it’s warm add rose essence & set aside.
3. Dip each bread slice in milk squeeze out excess milk & transfer it to the mixer. Pulse it for
2-3 times or until it gets finely crushed. To the crushed bread slices add the milk powder if required.
4. Prepare small balls and don’t roll the balls too tight.
5. Heat oil in a kadai & drop few balls at a time, fry in low flame till golden brown & then drain them in kitchen towel.
6. Add the balls into the warm sugar syrup. Cover & let it rest for atleast 2 hrs for the jamuns to absorb the sugar syrup well.
Delicious bread gulab jamuns are ready. It can be served warm or chilled. Can be refrigerated for 2-3days.

Note:
Adding milk powder is optional. Elachi powder can also be added.
Use unsalted bread for best results.

Just prick the balls before soaking them in the syrup.
